Where did the battle take place?
The Battle of Coral Sea took place in the PACIFIC THEATER, between the Solomon Islands, Australia, and New Guinea. The Japanese military were commanded to first seize Tulagi, a island located in the Solomons, and then to take over Port Moresby on the coast of New Guinea. These actions were done in order to prevent the U.S. and Britain from making Australia into a naval base.
